our men’s design team took a field trip to Tokyo,
the capital of cutting-edge cool and rare vintage finds,
to seek inspiration for our upcoming collections
1. Omoide Yokocho, or “Memory Alley,” a narrow passageway packed with yakitori joints (famous for their skewers of grilled meats) and sake bars. Rumored to be a source of inspiration for sets in Ridley Scott’s cult-classic film Blade Runner.
2. A wooden whale paperweight found while walking around…
3. Custard pots purchased from a small shop in the Nakameguro area of Tokyo.
4. The designer of Canton Jeans, a small denim company we’re working with on a future collaboration, being poured a glass of Asahi beer by an authentic geisha.
5. Dan, outside the Rugged Museum store (it has a great mix of new and vintage gear and is also the home office of Free & Easy magazine).
6. Dwight, spotted inside Gonpachi restaurant in the Roppongi area of Tokyo. (Its interior supposedly inspired a set used in Kill Bill.)

7. A guide to Tokyo’s famed Roppongi area. As the subtitle says (“dining, nightlife and entertainment”), it’s stocked with good food and drink.
8. Kapital is one of our favorite Japanese brands. Each store has its own D.I.Y. vibe, as do these paper tokens they hand out as business cards.
9. An indigo napkin from a sushi restaurant we used for print inspiration.
