filmmaker, photographer and sometimes Ludlow suit model Daniel Mehrer made the 200-mile bike ride from Goshen, New York, up to Granville, New York. three flat tires, two hours of riding in the dark and miles of scenic landscapes later, the crew arrived. here, a closer look at this very local ride through upstate New York.
Daniel and his friend David Gottlieb bike on trails and roadways that take them through New York towns Accord and Rhinebeck, the Berkshires in Massachusetts and Bennington, Vermont.
In Accord, the guys drop in on friend Kenyan Lewis (pictured above in a Wallace & Barnes indigo sweatshirt) who runs By Kenyan, a New York-based design studio that specializes in antique sourcing and prop styling. His place in Accord is a revolving door of friends dropping by for dinner on the weekends.
Cartographer Daniel DeLorenzo wears a Wallace & Barnes waffle shirt in marled graphite. Daniel Mehrer wears a Wallace & Barnes overdyed herringbone twill shirt in blue haze. Artist Ryder Robison wears a Wallace & Barnes duo-knit henley in black. Paul Mehrer, Daniel’s brother, wears a J.Crew shawl henley sweater.
When Daniel and his brother finally reached Granville, one of the first tasks at hand was to take down several of the dead trees that surrounded the 200-year-old barns to gather firewood for the winter. (Daniel captured all the surrounding barns in a single image using a Holga medium format camera.)Photography by Daniel Mehrer.
